Bad Blogger!

I am very sorry - I am a terrible blogger. But will you all forgive me if I make this an epic?

So, back in August I ventured onto a plane for the flight back to Blighty. And after the lovely 25 hour flight (over huge distances of emptiness in East Asia) I landed in London. And on leaving the airport the first thing that hit me was a big wall of cigarette smoke and diesel fumes. Yup, I was back!

From there I was transported (in a sleepy haze) to wildest Gloucestershire. Having said hi to Mum and had a proper cup of tea, we headed out for a walk (long haul flying makes your legs hurt!) and ended up at the pub for a proper pint (a PINT!) of Hairy British Ale - Ahhh.

Lots of sleeping and chilling out in Gloucestershire later, plus catching up with some friends and family and I was soon off to London again. On the train this time - yippee! A quick stop in Twickers, some serious Contral London shopping, a night in Kent, some late night Karaoke and a big dinner out on Baker Street with a large and lovely selection of my friends and I was on my way to Essex for what was supposed to be a relaxed week with my in-laws and the babies. However, it didn't quite work out as planned. Little Will (my 5 week old nephew) was taken into hospital and the Grannies and Aunties (me included) were holding the fort and looking after Will's twin Mollie and big sister Evie. There was lots of baby snuggling and worrying. I did get to spend lots of time with little Mo and Ellen too. Suddenly my visit was over and back to London to see my cousins and a couple more friends. Not to mention a 2 year old's birthday party and then back to Heathrow. Where they tried not to let me on the plane! A long call to NZ Immigration later and I was on track for Auckland again.

And how lovely it was to get back here. I'm not a London person any more. I hated it! Well, apart from the lovely people and the shopping, of course.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from my trip as my camera was unhappy.

Coming back I found that Will hadn't killed anything in the garden (or Gordon for that matter), but had nurtured a weed or two in my absence. Still, something to get my trowel into!

Spring in Auckland has sprung and it's lovely. Unpredicatable, but lovely.

My veggie garden is coming on really well - all the ground cleared and running out of space! I am eyeing up the lawn for the veggie patch extension!

Gordon has been on a D-I-E-T since I last took him to the vet - target weight loss 400g in 8 weeks. He has been a good little WeightWatcher and lost 350 in the first 4 weeks. So they moved the target to 600g. He's looking slim and lithe and has even more naughty ginger energy than he had before! He likes the 'chasing snacks down the hall' game best and only headbutts the living room door occasionally!

Will and I walked round the SkyTower on the outside a couple of weeks ago - great fun and a lovely day for it.

We had our first beach day on Sunday - went out to the Waitakere Ranges west of Auckland with Dan and Ali.

Bring on the summer!

Hi Kirsten and Will,

Enjoyed the blog today. Grey wet day in London and nice to see some good photos.

Where are all the photos of Will?

Life here is pretty unexciting. UK going through financial meltdown which is nice. Hoping will have a job in 6/12 months although if got the redundancy package could always run away out of this country and never come back..... Always options.

Sorry I could not meet up with you when you were over in September. Would have been good to catch up.

How's work/life etc?

Hi Kirsten

Always great to read your blog and see pictures - even though we keep in touch by other means too! Your campaign to get me back out here, may be slowly working. I plan to go to New Zealand house this weekend to pick up details! :)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Love and hugs,
Emily

ps great to see comment from Rob and know he's alive! ;)

Hi Rob

There are photos of Will on Picassa. It takes an age to download them into Blogger from here :(

Hmm, keeping half an eye on economics - good luck.

Yeah, sorry I couldn't see you too. You'll just have to pop over and visit.

Work life? See blog :) All going well.
