Just a quick one...

....coz I'm still jetlagged.

Arrived safe, on time and after an uneventful flight. Met by Will in a flashy red sportscar (drove it yesterday and much fun was had!!)

Chilled for the day and passed out at teatime. For 12 hours!!

Friday I met Prof and Co. and had a look round the uni department. Not that that is where I'll be working - all stuff to sort out on Monday.

Weather is as good as you can expect in July in the UK (and it is still mid spring!!). Shades and sunblock a requirement.

Auckland has changed a lot since I was here last - lots of building happening in the centre near the sea.

House is good - more rooms than we know what to do with and a garden with a lemon tree, laden and nearly ready for a G&T!! Veggies were bought and planted today, so the dream is officially real (if on a very small scale).

Will has found a lovely organic, free-range, fair-trade cafe that does fantastic brunches. And the Aucklanders LOVE their coffee, so I'm in seventh heaven.

Nearly poised and ready for action (but I might have a snooze first!!)

Photos to follow once I have found the camera - promise.

Off to the coast tomorrow to explore some fab beaches/hills/waterfalls and maybe (if the weather is good) go for a dip.

Oh, and Will wasn't kidding about the hills - ridiculous!! Whoever would build a city on 12 volcanoes anyway?!

Hi Kirsten - hope you got your snooze and more done at the weekend. Glad you're settling in ok and found decent coffee shop. Ben and I, enjoyed the Blackheath fireworks with my Mum and Dad - who send their love. It was very strange that you and Will were not there too - seeing as we'd spent it together the last few years.

Mum and I did some gardening on Sunday - bought wall flowers, primroses and tulip bulbs from farmers market - so got some instant colour and some surprises for spring!

Thanks for text earlier - hope you get the work thing sorted. Martin Seligman's talk on positive psychology was very inspirational - looked at the politics of wellbeing. I can feel refreshed enthusiasm to change the Department from the inside - wish me luck! At least they've already said I can take the lead on a well-being project ... :)

I probably should let Ben tell you himself but let's just say he's had very good news about a certain job he might have been interviewed for all that time ago ... !!

Best wishes, lots of love Emily x
